Young Exhibitors Win $35,000 in Prizes, Top Show Calves as All-American Dairy Show Opens



Lucky youth exhibitors took home new show calves from renowned farms and more than $35,000 in prizes during the opening ceremonies of the 10th annual Premier National Junior Events, part of the All-American Dairy Show, which runs Sept. 7-12 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.

Junior exhibitors won clippers, magazine subscriptions, clothing, cash and gift cards, and other prizes. The ceremonies concluded with seven donated show calves given to junior dairy producers to help promote the longevity of the dairy cattle industry.

Calves donated:

• Ayrshire – Maple-Dell Burdette Gloria, won by Keenan Thygesen of Tunbridge, Vt., donated by Maple Dell Farm, of Woodbine, Md., owned by the David Patrick Family. This was Maple Dell Farm's 50th trip to the All-American Dairy Show.

• Brown Swiss – Top Acres Wonder Smile ET, won by Kaitlyn Muncie of Eighty-Four, Pa., donated by Top Acres Brown Swiss of St. Paris, Ohio, owned by Wayne and Connie Sliker.

• Guernsey – Snider GEO Watchout, won by Hannah Wilson of Middletown, Pa., donated by Snider Homestead Farm of New Enterprise, Pa. This was Snider Homestead Farm's 50th trip to the All American Dairy Show.

• Holstein – Windy-Knoll-View Proctor, won by Courtney Campbell of Gratz, Pa., donated by Windy Knoll View Farm of Mercersburg, Pa., and owned by the Burdette Family.

• Jersey – Jemi Getaway From Maltai, won by Catherine Savage of Dickerson, Md., donated by JEMI Jerseys of Newburg, Pa., and owned by Michele and Jeff Reasner.

• Milking Shorthorn – NIXS Juke Box, won by Madison Wright of Dayden, N.Y. and donated by Jake Skinner of Mercersburg, Pa.

• Red & White – Del-Hollow Golden Jewel Red, won by Austin Mowry of New Enterprise, Pa., donated by Del-Hollow Farms of Coudersport, Pa., owned by Dana Erway.




The 50th All-American Dairy Show, the world's largest dairy show, runs Sept. 7-12 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.
