Holstein Supreme Champion of All-American Dairy Show's Premier National Junior Events

Red & White Takes Second-Annual Supreme Junior Champion Honors

Two Holsteins, a Maryland black and white and New York red and white, were named Supreme Champions at the Premier National Junior Show Monday, Sept. 9, at the 2013 All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg.

Savage-Leigh Gold Lona-ET, a Holstein exhibited by Chase Savage, 9, of Union Bridge, Md., was named the show's Supreme Champion Cow. The 4-year-old is an Ex-92 daughter of Braedale Goldwyn. Chase is the son of Chip and Isha Savage of Savage-Leigh Holsteins.

"Quite exceptional, very dairy, very feminine, very clean, overall a great cow," said show judge Mark Reuth.

L-Maples Hvezda Callie, a Red & White shown by Cooper Galton, 17, of Nunda, N.Y., was named Supreme Champion Heifer. The Spring Yearling was sired by Orbe-View S Strm Hvezda. Cooper is the son of Todd and Meg Galton of Rolling View Farm.

"This heifer is all kinds of good, so long, so tall, so stylish, plenty of openness. A job well done," said show judge Jacob Hushon.

Savage received the $2,000 Supreme Champion Cow award, sponsored by AgChoice and Mid Atlantic Farm Credit, and the John L. Morris Memorial Blanket, sponsored by the Center for Dairy Excellence.

Galton received the first Samuel G. Yoder Crystal Star and $500 award, presented to the owner of the Supreme Champion Heifer. It was sponsored by the American, Junior American and Mid-Atlantic Milking Shorthorn societies and the American Milking Shorthorn Society Syndicate.
