Alltech's Global 500 Draws 560 Attendees from Beef and Dairy Industries

Alltech's Gloabl 500 reception

More than 560 people from all over the world arrived in Lexington, Ky., today for Alltech's Global 500. Farmers and producers from the beef and dairy industries came from as far away as Argentina, Afghanistan, Serbia, Slovakia and Switzerland to hear about the future of animal production and how they can keep their business profitable by focusing on the three pillars of successful farming: efficiency, profitability and sustainability.

Expert speakers will talk about how to farm the future landscape while contending with issues such as global warming and a growing population. They will discuss communication and social media, tools that are crucial in getting consumers to understand and appreciate the agricultural sector. In addition, they will examine how to get the best out of the farm team, motivating the workforce to get maximum efficiency.

Alltech's Fam of future display

"With the world focusing on feeding nine billion people, there is a need to maximize productivity while minimizing environmental impact. This year's attendees have commented that tomorrow's farmers need to be conscious of their brand. They are asking if, in order to remain profitable, we need to return to the old way of delivering milk: in a bottle on door step," said Dr. Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech. "There are also incredible breakthroughs in crop science to consider. Researchers are currently discussing the possibility of producing a ton more grain per acre, a gain that would revolutionize farming. The United States alone could represent 100 million tons of grain."

Alltech is also celebrating dairy heroes, beginning this year at Global 500 with the launch of the Dairy Heroes program, which recognizes the important role of dairy farmers in the lives of the global population. Visit DairyHeroes.com to learn more or submit a story.

"We are inviting you to share your stories and acknowledge your dairy hero, that individual who goes the extra mile every day. Whether it's a parent or a member of the farm family or team, Alltech wants to celebrate their passion for the dairy farming lifestyle and their contribution to food production," said Kevin Dardis, global dairy marketing manager, Alltech. "In this era of unprecedented connection, with one billion people on Facebook alone, there has never been a better time to tell these stories and bridge the farm to fork divide."

In celebration of Global 500 and the launch of the Dairy Heroes program, Alltech has also been running a farm photo competition. Visit the Alltech Farms in Focus contest page to vote for the best photo before voting closes on Friday, Dec. 7 at 9:00 a.m.EST.

For those unable to attend this year's Global 500 event, it will be broadcast live on the Alltech Ag Network.
