The Dairy Business Association's 8th Annual Expansion Symposium and Trade Show was held on February 19 and 20 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay. The event was attended by 500 people and included a wide variety of presenters who addressed the issues that affect Wisconsin's dairy business. Trade show displays throughout the symposium gave vendors the opportunity to showcase their products and services and allowed dairy producers to see the latest industry trends and innovations. Despite the treacherous winter road conditions, the event had an excellent turnout. Throughout the extended hours of exhibit floor period were hors d'oeuvres, special activities and chances to win extraordinary prizes.

The first day of the event included a surprise visit by the talented Pulaski High School Jazz Band to kick off the conference. After that, Dr. Martin Regalia, Chief Economist of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, discussed the current US and world economic situation and the effects the economy will have on businesses and job growth. The event also featured a unique opportunity for attendees to participate in "Business Enhancement Sessions" of their choice. Topics included new dairy breeding programs, employee behavior issues, strategies for feeding a dairy herd during high feed prices, and understanding the costs and requirements to dairy operations under the new healthcare law.

On Wednesday, attendees heard from speakers about a variety of topics, including animal welfare, cross ventilation barns, and ideas on protecting town roads. The last day ended on a very high note, with an inspirational presentation by Dr. Lance Fox, who shared his fascinating experiences of climbing Mount Everest. The conference concluded with the sweepstakes giveaway, which included Kindle Fires, weekend getaways, and the grand prize of an African Safari.
