The Farm Show Council held its annual meeting April 7-9, 2014 in Ames, Iowa. The council, which consists of 24 shows in three countries, meets annually to exchange ideas and concerns with each other while seeking mutual means to be more effective for their exhibitors and visitors."The annual meeting is a great opportunity for members to come together and share ideas to continually improve our shows," said Dennis Alford, Farm Show Council President and manager of Power Show Ohio. "We want to provide the best possible platform for exhibitors to display their agricultural products, equipment and technology to the agricultural customer."
Highlights of this year's meeting were presentations on advancements in corn production and cellulosic ethanol presented by Dr. Matt Darr, associate professor, Iowa State University. The meeting also included an exhibitor panel with discussion about the needs of exhibitors. The panel included representatives from John Deere, Case IH, Precision Planting, Monsanto, Kubota and others.
The group strives to express excellence and maintain high standards for the benefit of both exhibitors and attendees. Each show is evaluated prior to being admitted in to the council, and every five years. Each show must meet certain criteria in order to maintain membership.
"The Farm Show Council members want to provide the best vehicle possible for our exhibitors to present their products and services to their farmer/rancher customers. Our annual meetings provide us this opportunity by educating us on the latest farming practices, hearing directly from our exhibitors in a panel discussion and exchanging best practice ideas," said Alford.
Since 1972, the Council has represented agricultural equipment shows in the United States, Canada and New Zealand. In 2000, the Council expanded its representation to include agricultural equipment shows outside of the boundaries of North American with the creation of the International Membership.
