Center for Dairy Excellence logoThe Hershey Company has donated $10,000 to the Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation of Pennsylvania to support educational resources for Pennsylvania's dairy industry. Hershey's contribution will go directly to support the Dairy Leaders of Tomorrow platform, which funds a dairy business curriculum, dairy tour and other resources for high school students.

"Milton Hershey chose Central Pennsylvania as the location for his chocolate plant, in part, because of the high-quality milk produced on local dairy farms," said Frank Day, vice president of global commodities for The Hershey Company, who also serves on the Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation Board of Directors. "Hershey's contribution to the Center Foundation is just one way to say thanks to Pennsylvania's dairyland for being a valuable partner over the past 100 years."

The Hershey Company continues to source fresh milk daily from Pennsylvania dairy farms for its chocolate manufacturing plants located in Hershey, Pa.

"We are proud of the partnership we have had with The Hershey Company in Pennsylvania, and we are pleased that they are demonstrating their support of dairy's future through investing in the Center Foundation," said Paula Meabon, chairperson of Center Foundation's board of directors from Erie County.

The Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation of Pennsylvania was established in 2011 as a charitable 501(c)(3) organization to support educational initiatives that grow and sustain the Pennsylvania dairy industry. The foundation provides the opportunity for individuals and organizations to make tax-deductible contributions to support educational initiatives within Pennsylvania's dairy industry.

The Center Foundation will invest in programs that grow the state's vibrant dairy industry, today and tomorrow. Individual and corporate donors can select to have their donations put toward four unique funds within the foundation, including the Dairy Leaders Platform, the Endowment Fund, the Dairy Scholarship Fund and the Dairy Programs Reserve Fund. All contributions are tax-deductible.
