Passing of a Kansas State Dairy Judging Team Coach, Dr. John Shirley

John Edd Shirley, age 69, of Tompkinsville, passed away Monday, April 16, at his home. Dr. Shirley was the Kansas State Dairy Judging Team Coach from 1988 to 2005. He is survived by his wife: Lula Cross Shirley; one son: Jeffrey Shirley of Wamego, Kansas; two daughters: Johnna Beth Nunneley of Yokohama, Japan and Rebekah Grantham of Houston, Texas; two brothers: Jim Shirley of Tompkinsville and Kelly Shirley of Marshall, Virginia; two sisters: Betsy Rush of Tompkinville and Frances butler of Sparta, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for John Edd Shirley will be a 1 pm Friday at The First Baptist in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in the White Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 pm to 9 pm at the Strode funeral Home in Tompkinsville. There will also be visitation on Friday morning at the church from 8:00am until near the start of the service. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church in Tompkinsville, White Cemetery, or Monroe County FFA. 4.25.2012
