County Executive Statement Regarding State Building Commission Approval of Funds for Construction of New Holland Pavilions at the Alliant Energy Center

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi issued the following statement following the State Building Commission's approval of $9 million in state funding necessary to move forward with the construction of two new multi-use pavilions to replace aging barn facilities on the Alliant Energy Center Campus. The "New Holland Pavilions at the Alliant Energy Center" are expected to be completed in time for the 2014 World Dairy Expo.

"Today the final and most critical piece has fallen into place to allow the county to move forward with construction of the two "New Holland Pavilions at the Alliant Energy Center" that will create 290,000 square feet of premiere multi-use space at the AEC.

The county's commitment to replace our aging barn facilities with these state-of-the-art pavilions has helped secure long-term agreements with top shows including World Dairy Expo and the Midwest Horse Fair.

With an estimated economic impact of more than $88 million dollars, this project will only strengthen the AEC's reputation as a premiere destination for a wide variety of world-class events – from agriculture shows to conventions and trade shows. The promise of these pavilions has been key in attracting new proposals from shows that have never been here before.

"Making meaningful changes to keep the AEC a strong driver for our tourism economy was an early goal in my tenure as County Executive. This exciting moment for Dane County and our region could not be possible without the dedicated project partners who helped make these pavilions possible – from concept to construction.

"I am thankful to the State of Wisconsin's Building Commission members, DATCP Secretary Ben Brancel and his staff, World Dairy Expo, Midwest Horse Fair/Wisconsin Horse Council, Miron Construction, the members of my original Alliant Energy Center Expansion Task Force, our staff at the Alliant Energy Center, and the Dane County Board for their support."
