Select Sires' High-Components Lineup Remains at the Top of the Industry
Select Sires continues to be the industry leader for high-components sires with high-ranking sires in the Jersey, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Ayrshire and Milking Shorthorn breeds.Select Sires' Jersey lineup is now home to the top Jersey Performance Index (JPI) sire (+237), 523JE927 Wilsonview Jevon MAGNUM-ET who leads the industry in several categories including Fat (+94), Net Merit (NM$) (+660) and Fluid Merit (FM$) (+634). Led by MAGNUM, Select Sires' lineup has the most active and foreign A.I. sires in the top 10 for NM$, Cheese Merit (CM$), FM$ and Fat. 236JE146 ISDK DJ ZUMA ranks in the top 10 for NM$ (+579), CM$ (+663) and FM$ (+493), while 7JE1046 Sunrise/Hackline Bungy ZIPPER is a leading sire for NM$ (+515), CM$ (+585) and FM$ (+469) as well. 7JE1036 Avon Road Impuls PAT and 236JE136 ISDK DJ HULK are also in the top 10 sires for CM$ at +575 and +574, respectively. Among the top 10 active and foreign A.I. sires for Fat you can find HULK (+88) and 7JE1010 All Lynns Maximum VICTORY-ET (+86). In addition to MAGNUM, ZIPPER (+221) and 7JE1038 All Lynns Louie VALENTINO-ET (+190) are some of the breed's best for GJPI. Select Sires also has three of the top 10 Jersey Type sires led by 7JE1038 All Lynns Louie VALENTINO-ET at +2.3 PTAT and followed by 7JE1000 Richies Jace TBONE A364 (+1.9) and 7JE860 Maack Dairy ECLIPES-P-ET (+1.9).
Once again, the Jersey lineup dominates Sire Conception Rate (SCR), demonstrating Select Sires' commitment to semen quality and fertility. Select Sires has 12 sires that are positive for SCR including seven of the top 10 active and foreign Jersey sires. New addition MAGNUM leads the Jersey lineup
MAGNUM also tops the industry for JPI, Fat, NM$ and FM$ and has been siring well-balanced cows built for performance with open, dairy ribs. He transmits longevity (+4.7 Productive Life) and daughter fertility (+1.5 Daughter Pregnancy Rate). He is available only in gender SELECTed semen.
From a high production cow family, 7JE1027 Gabys Impuls DAVENPORT-ET is a top JPI (+159) graduate with high reliability. This Impuls son also excels at improving components (+.07% Fat, +.04% Protein) which is reflected in his high CM$ (+481). Carrying the FeedPRO® designation he sires long-living (+4.2 PL) cows that breed back quickly (+1.0 DPR).
A 7JE590 Forest Glen Avery ACTION-ET son, 7JE1048 Forest Glen Action JR joins the lineup as a top Jersey sire for Milk (+1,100). Not only do his daughters produce high volumes of milk, they look very good doing it (+1.3 Type). JR has earned the HealthMark designation and is available in gender SELECTed semen.
A Type specialist (+1.7 PTAT), 7JE1071 Freeman Blackstone SHINE-ET is the first Blackstone son to graduate into the Select Sires lineup and comes from eight generations of Very Good and Excellent dams. An exceptional udder improver (+3.90 Jersey Udder Index) SHINE quickly has become a customer satisfaction sire. He transmits a high PL (+2.4) and outstanding components (+.25%F, +.11%P).
Brown Swiss lineup continues to perform
7BS826 Oak View Zeus AUGUST*TM made gains in several areas, including breaking into the top four active A.I. sires for Progressive Performance Ranking (GPPR) at +159. He also improved for Type (+1.0), Milk (+602), Somatic Cell Score (2.62) and Mobility (+1.2). April 2013 graduate, 7BS828 Little Hill Ladys MVP ET*TM, made a significant jump for Milk (+736) as he continues to sire highly productive cows. 7BS900 Blessing Tex BRAIDEN ET*TM "E92" made gains on fitness traits improving to +4.1 for PL and +1.7 for DPR.
Guernsey lineup dominates PTI list
With all members of the proven lineup in the top 10 active A.I. PTI sires, Select Sires leads the way for Guernsey genetics. 7GU405 Golden J Ronald GRUMPY is the new No. 1 PTI sire (+158) and is followed by 7GU398 Sniders Ronalds ALSTAR (+156), 7GU428 Golden J Skipper GARY (+85), 7GU434 Spring Walk Sherberts MINT (+75) and 7GU455 Oak Knob Maxie LAREDO (+67). GRUMPY is also the No.1 sire for CM$ (+486) and has limited semen available. MINT leads the breed for Type (+1.5), while ALSTAR is the leading active A.I. sire for Milk (+1,109), DPR (+2.6), NM$ (+485) and FM$ (+521). GARY is the No. 1 active A.I. sire for Protein (+26) and a standout in Select Sires' lineup for SCR (+0.5).
POWER and BURDETTE are at the top of the Ayrshire breed
7AY87 Anmar Peter POWER-ET continues to sire productive, profit-making cows. He leads active A.I. sires for DPR (+1.5) and ranks second for GPTI (+546), NM$ (+433), CM$ (+476) and percent Fat (+.12%). 7AY84 Palmyra Tri-Star BURDETTE-ET remains dominant for Type (+1.8), topping all active A.I. sires as well as siring show winners from coast to coast. BURDETTE is a top-five sire for CM$ (+386), NM$ (+348) and GPTI (+532).
Milking Shorthorn lineup continues to impress
7MS347 Mysha-WO Advent LIRIANO-ET, with limited semen available, leads active A.I. sires for Type (+1.0) and Udder Composite (UDC) (+1.16). LIRIANO also improved in milk production (+1,134), ranking in the top five active A.I. sires. 7MS346 Kulp-Gen Jurist ACE-ET is one of the top components specialists in the Milking Shorthorn breed (+.35%F, +68F, +.09%P) and climbs higher on PPR (+136).
