Center, Penn State Hosting Professional Development Event on May 15

Dairy professionals who work within Pennsylvania's dairy industry are invited to attend a professional development conference on Thursday, May 15, entitled "Essentials for Enhancing Your Career." The one-day conference is being hosted by the Center for Dairy Excellence and the Penn State Extension Dairy Team at the Penn State Visitors Center in State College, Pa., to help those who work with dairy farm customers and clients to enhance their customer relations and facilitation skills.

"We are offering this seminar, both as a way to provide skill training for our own staff teams and to offer the same skill training to others who are supporting Pennsylvania's dairy farm community," said Emily Yeiser, Dairy Initiatives Manager with the Center for Dairy Excellence.

Penn State Dairy Extension Program Manager Rebecca White added, "We looked at the skills we wanted to build internally and identified those that would also benefit those working in private industry that are routinely supporting farms ."

While presentation topics and speakers are still being finalized, the conference will focus on facilitation skills, customer relations, and industry-focused issues such as the new farm bill regulations. More information will be released in early April. For now, dairy professionals are encouraged to save the date.
