When the electricity goes out, most farm tasks are at a standstill until the power returns. This can cause major problems on a dairy farm. Some dairymen install a back-up generator so that they always have an available source of power.

We visited Kohler Power Systems in Kohler, Wis., to see the generator production process. The article, "How a generator is made," appeared on the Young Dairyman page of the May 25, 2016, issue on page 368.
