To help farmers continuously improve their heifer raising programs, Purina Animal Nutrition announces Megan Wildman as a calf and heifer specialist. She will serve the New York area, acting as a local resource for dairy farmers.

Transitioning from a Purina sales specialist, Wildman is bringing extensive hands-on experience to her new role. She can help provide insights on topics from formulating and balancing heifer rations to developing feeding plans for calves housed in group auto-feeder barns, individual hutches and conventional calf barns.

“Wildman’s hands-on industry experience will be an essential asset to helping New York dairy farmers reach their goals,” says Fred Martsolf, Purina area sales manager. “She will be conducting on-farm demonstrations, allowing farmers to see firsthand how to implement best management practices for continuous improvement.”

Prior to joining Purina, Wildman served as a herd assistant at the Cornell University Research Center where she focused on the maternity area, calving assistance and fresh cow and newborn care. She earned her bachelor’s degree in animal science from Cornell University and has a small herd of registered Holsteins.

“I enjoy collaborating with New York dairy farmers on a daily basis,” says Wildman. “We focus on their herd’s future and finding ways to achieve their unique goals.”
