The recognition keeps coming for Hortau.Hortau, a provider of precision irrigation management systems and services for agriculture, today was named to the THRIVE AgTech Top 50 list of companies shaping the future of agriculture for 2018, according to AgFunder News.

It’s the second straight year Hortau has been named to the THRIVE AgTech Top 50, created by Salinas, Calif.-based SVG Partners’ corporate innovation program, which “connects major corporate brands like Coca-Cola, DuPont Pioneer, Trimble, Land O’Lakes, Wells Fargo and others with promising growth stage companies for pilots and partnerships.”

The Top 50 companies “are scouted for exemplary leadership, technology, and traction, and selected based on alignments with specific organizational criteria and industry pain points outlined by corporate partners,” noted THRIVE in a statement.

“The year’s honorees span a diverse range of technology types covering everything from accelerated gene editing to novel farming systems to farm management platforms,” said SVG Partners/THRIVE CEO and founder John Hartnett. “The need for agtech innovation is more urgent than ever, and we are delighted to bring these technologists together with our corporate partners to advance the industry.”

Hortau was recognized on the Top 50 list in the “Connected Devices” category, along with five other companies.

Founded in 2002, Hortau’s crop stress management platform reports to growers how crops are faring in real time – before stresses such as drought or lack of aeration can have a negative impact on a crop. This proprietary, plant-centric approach measures plant stress using soil tension, ensuring optimal crop growth, and reducing water and energy consumption, as well as environmental impacts such as leaching.

“It’s always an honor to be recognized for our hard work,” said Hortau CEO Jocelyn Boudreau. “We’re constantly evolving as a company, providing the services our growers need to improve production year round. It’s not easy to remain at the forefront of a fast-moving industry like agtech, so we’re proud to be mentioned with this group of innovators.”

Tuesday’s recognition comes on the heels of a handful of other awards and watch lists that included the company. Hortau recently won the 2017 North American Smart Irrigation New Product Innovation Award, was a finalist for the 2017 CognitionX Best AI Product in Agriculture award, and was named to the 2017 Global Cleantech 100 Ones to Watch list.
