The dairy cattle show at World Dairy Expo provided an excellent representation of the St. Jacobs ABC and ABS partnership in the quality of cattle presented. One of the defining moments of the week was during the International Junior Holstein Show, when the Grand, Reserve and Honorable Mention Champion cows were all sired by DUNDEE. Siemers DUNDEE Hilda 8669-ET, owned by Jordan Siemers of Cleveland, Wis. took home Champion honors, while Budjon-JK Edge of Reason, owned by Jordan and Whitney Ebert of Algoma, Wis. wrapped up Reserve Champion. In addition, the Junior Champion of the Junior Show was sired by ASTEROID Peace & Plenty ASTEROID Fishy is owned by Austin Schwartzbeck of Union Bridge, Maryland.
Later in the week as Grand Champion of the International Holstein Show was being selected, the Judge's Choice program was well represented, as each of the four great cows in contention for champion has a son in the program or on the ground headed for ABS.
As part of its World Dairy Expo sponsorship, ABS Global provides a morning donut cart to barn crew members, Monday through Saturday at the World Dairy Expo grounds. Over 45 ABS and St. Jacobs volunteers helped distribute these treats to dairy cattle exhibitors. Staff served 406 dozen donuts (4,872 total), in addition to 4,450 cartons of milk and 1,744 cups of coffee.
