After being put on hold after last year's North Dakota State Fair fell victim to floods, the dairy farmers of North Dakota have completed work to debut a brand new milk shake wagon at this year's fair, setting the stage for serving even more dairy products at the popular concession.

The new wagon, carrying the slogan "Milkshakes and Moooore," doubles the capacity for making the concession's chocolate, vanilla and strawberry shakes. Two machines will churn mix into shakes, and hand-dipped ice cream in five flavors will served up by members of the Minot Curling Club, who contract with Midwest Dairy Association to provide the labor for the fair's run.

The signage on the outside of the wagon features two of North Dakota's dairy farm families. In one, the Andrew Holle family, from Mandan, shares the fact that milk usually travels fresh from farm to fridge in just 48 hours. In the other, a photo of the Alan Qual family of Lisbon is paired with information about Fuel Up to Play 60, an in-school nutrition and physical activity initiative in which dairy farmers are a key partner.
The larger trailer will not only provide more working room and the ability to serve more shakes faster, but it also allows for a switch to offering milk in single-serve bottles instead of the open cups that were previously offered. The wagon also sells string cheese and four flavors of yogurt.

"The Fair's business simply outgrew our old trailer," said Dale Kuhn, Towner, a dairy farmer and North Dakota Division board member of Midwest Dairy Association. "As dairy farmers, we are just really proud to sell such great products at the Fair, so we want to do the best job we can."

The concession will be located at its traditional spot just south of the dairy barn and is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
