Flagsheep from Beecher's Handmade Cheese in Seattle, WA was named "Best of Show" at the 28th Annual American Cheese Society (ACS) Judging & Competition. The results were announced in a ceremony at the 29th Annual ACS Conference, held at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, North Carolina from August 1-4, 2012.

American Cheese Society logoValley Shepherd Creamery from New Jersey was awarded 2nd Place overall for Crema De Blue and Emmi Roth USA from Wisconsin took 3rd place for its Roth Grand Cru Surchoix. The winning cheeses, along with more than 1,700 additional cheeses entered into the 2012 ACS Judging & Competition, will be available for the public to sample at the Festival of Cheese on Saturday, August 4 from 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM at the Raleigh Convention Center. In addition, competition cheeses are available for purchase at the ACS Public Cheese Sale on Sunday, August 5 from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Raleigh Convention Center; all proceeds from the Cheese Sale will benefit the nonprofit 501(c)(3)

The annual ACS Conference & Competition – a gathering of 800+ cheesemakers, merchandisers, retailers, distributors, academicians, food writers, and enthusiasts from the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe – celebrates American artisan, farmstead, and specialty cheese. The 2012 Competition saw a record number of entries: 1,711 cheeses and cultured milk products from 254 companies in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
