MOSCOW is Select Sires' Newest Millionaire
Select Sires is excited to announce that sales of 7HO7466 Robthom MOSCOW-ET (EX-94-GM) have exceeded 1 million units. At 11-years-old, MOSCOW is the sixth sire in the history of Select Sires to reach this milestone, following in the footsteps of 7HO6417 O-Bee MANfred Justice-ET (EX-94-GM), 7HO5708 Fustead Emory BLITZ-ET (EX-95-GM), 7HO4213 Robthom INTEGRITY-ET (EX-96-GM), 7HO3707 Paradise-R Cleitus MATHIE*CV (EX-96-GM) and 7HO1236 Fisher-Place MANDINGO-Twin (EX-95-GM).
Bred by A.J. and T.J. Ling of Springfield, Mo., MOSCOW is a 7HO5375 Mara-thon BW MARSHALL-ET (VG-86-GM) son from one of INTEGRITY's best daughters, Robthom Georgia Integrity (EX-92-2E-EX-MS-GMD-DOM), who exhibited high-production traits that ranked her among the best in the state. At five years and seven months, she produced 53,240 pounds of milk, 2,521 pounds of fat and 1,599 pounds of protein. MOSCOW's family is also known for producing generations of trouble-free, long-living cows.
"Select has had so much success with Robthom bloodlines," said sire analyst Scott Culbertson. "Throughout our history, salesmen have promoted the Robthom prefix with confidence."
MOSCOW debuted as a Super Sampler in 2002 and entered the proven lineup in 2006 as a calving ease sire that improved production and functional type. From there he grew in popularity because of his exceptional health traits and ability to consistently transmit quality udders and feet and legs. Due to the rising interest in fitness traits and MOSCOW's emergence as a health trait leader, he became a favorite of dairy producers.
"At the time of the mating, health traits were not in demand or fashionable," explained Culbertson. "They were just hidden in MOSCOW's genes."
Today, MOSCOW, boasts over 6,700 daughters in his Type evaluation and nearly 28,000 daughters in his Production proof. As a HealthMark sire he still shines with a Productive Life (PL) of +3.0 and a Somatic Cell Score (SCS) of 2.65. His impressive Sire Conception Rate (SCR) of +3.4 puts him among the best at Select Sires and has led to his Superior Settler designation. MOSCOW has also been a producer of high-quality semen which earned him a spot in the gender SELECTed lineup.
"It is a pleasure to have a bull like MOSCOW affect so many dairy producers in a good way," said Culbertson. "These producers benefitted by raising their bottom line with his genetics. Select Sires, as an organization, sold a quality bull and Robthom Holsteins' breeding efforts were truly represented by MOSCOW."
