Courtney Smith has joined ABS Global, Inc. as a Genetic Management System® (GMS®) processing specialist.
"Courtney's commitment to the dairy industry and positive and efficient work ethic gained from on-farm experience makes her a true asset to the team," commented Emily Novinskie, GMS processing manager. "Her attention to detail, organizational skills, and knowledge learned while working on dairy farms will ensure her success in this role."
Smith is a May 2012 graduate in animal science from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She has most recently worked on-farm, where she was a part of milking, mating, and monitoring the health of the herd, as well as maintaining registration and breeding records. Smith also held a previous position at a goat cheese plant in southwest Wisconsin, where she had the chance to utilize her Spanish-speaking skills.
As a GMS processing specialist, Smith will use an in-house program to ensure GMS matings are processed in a timely and efficient manner. She will enter herd goals, complete accurate data entry, aid in sire selection and distribute reports to customers. Smith will also assist GMS evaluators and ABS representatives in troubleshooting herd profiles.
