Farm Manager for Hoard's Dairyman, Jason Yurs


Jason Yurs, Farm Manager Jason Yurs has served as the Hoard's Dairyman Farm Manager since 2002. In this role, he oversees the daily operation of the nationally recognized Guernsey and Jersey herds. He trains and manages employees, makes purchasing decisions, manages more than 800 acres of cropland, and is involved hands-on with herd health and management decisions. He also played an integral role in the farm expansion in 2007. The expansion continued the legacy of founder W.D. Hoard's dairy operation which received National Register of Historic Places designation by the U.S. Department of Interior.

Yurs grew up on a registered Holstein farm in Elkhorn, Wis. Prior to joining the Hoard's team, he was a herd manager for a 600-cow dairy farm in Elkhorn, Wis.

He is actively involved in the American Guernsey Association, serving on the genetic improvement, reproductive improvement and Dairybelt Young Sire committees. In addition, the American Guernsey Association honored Yurs as the 2007 Outstanding Young Dairyman. Yurs and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Fort Atkinson, Wis., and have two children, Victoria and Dawson.
