Taylor Pires
Taylor was the 25th Hoard's Dairyman summer editorial intern since the program was launched in 1989. While working with the magazine, Pires helped prepare the 2013 World Dairy Expo supplement, compiled the Top 50 Co-op List, wrote the Farm Flash page and prepared other articles based on farm visits and meetings she attends.

Taylor graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in San Luis Obispo, Calif in 2014. At Cal Poly, Taylor majored in dairy science with an agricultural communications minor.

Pires grew up in the rural town of Los Banos, Calif., in Merced County. From the age of 2 until a few years ago, her family had a commercial Holstein dairy farm with 500 cows. Her parents, Paul and Vicki, were partners with her uncle and grandmother. Taylor also has a brother, Logan.

Upon graduation from Cal Poly, Taylor hopes to have a career in communications and public relations within the dairy industry. It is also her hope that someday she and her brother will re-establish Pires Dairy. Taylor is also incredibly active within the National Holstein Association. She currently serves as chair of the Junior Advisory Committee and was a Young Distinguished Junior Member in 2008.

She brings a wide range of editorial experience to the table, as well. Pires served as one of four student editors for Ag Circle Magazine, a promotional publication for Cal Poly's College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences. She also served as the World Wide Sires' advertising and public relations intern and a California FFA Greenhand Leadership Conference facilitator.
