Shopping for dairy people is not an easy task.

Foster Mothers of the Human Race paintingIt seems to be a struggle to purchase a Christmas gift for those that spend the majority of their life surrounded by cows and calves. They would likely prefer a calf jacket for their newborn calf, rather than a new one for themselves. A new calf milk pasteurizer will probably get the nod over remodeling an outdated and tiny kitchen.

So, the key is to purchase something they would appreciate, enjoy, and not necessarily purchase for themselves. Last year, Hoard's Dairyman commissioned artist Bonnie Mohr to paint the "Foster Mothers of the Human Race" to depict the seven recognized breeds of dairy cattle. The original oil painting hangs on the wall in our Hoard's Dairyman office in Fort Atkinson. But, signed and numbered prints of the "Foster Mothers" are available for purchase. The print measures 18" x 24". The print cost is $95 and $25 for U.S. shipping. A holiday present, a thank you gift for an associate, or for yourself, the "Foster Mothers" could be just the right gift.

To order a print, visit our bookstore or call our Hoard's Dairyman office at 920-563-5551 (8 am to 5 pm, central time).

Merry Christmas!
