February Class IV price is $23.46 — up $5.71 from last year
Class IV PriceAnnounced on March 5, the February Class IV (butter/powder) price was $23.46. The price per hundredweight was up $1.17 from the previous month. The Class IV not only prices butter and powder but also affects the Class I mover. The Class I mover (based on "higher of" advanced Class III or Class IV skim milk price) plus the Class I differential for each order determines Class I skim milk price. The mover is equivalent to the Basic Formula Price (BFP) under the old pricing system. It equals (base skim milk price for Class I times 0.965) plus (advanced butterfat pricing factor times 3.5). The Class I mover is announced on or before the 23rd of the previous month.
Note for September 2013 and October 2013 Class IV price: Due to the lapse in Federal government funding, equivalent weekly pricing constituents were announced by the Upper Midwest Milk Marketing Order. The equivalent pricing constituents were computed under authority of 7 CFR, Section 1000.54 and can be found at: http://www.fmma30.com/.
