MAY 2007

Free stall barn with sand bedding will hold 232 cows.

Home sweet home complete with sand bedded free stalls.

Putting in tile for aesthetic effects. The Guernseys will fit right in, since the tile matches their coat color!

Making sure it fits perfectly...

This will be where visitors to the Hoard's Dairy Farm can enter the milking parlor.

The Hoard's Farm will use a 2.5 million gallon capacity lagoon for manure management.

Determining where the feeding rail will go.

Making the curbs for the free stalls.

The first alfalfa crop of the 2007 season was bagged for silage on May 22.

The alfalfa is bagged in 12-foot-wide silage bags.

The pulsators for the new milk parlor are being wired up.
They will be located in the parlor basement.

The concrete for the palpation rail was just poured. It is next to the walkway from the free stall barn to the holding pen.

Sand savers are being installed in the free stalls. Sand will be deep bedded on top of them for a comfortable place for cows to lie.

The parlor is closer to completion! The stairs leading to the pit
from the holding pen were added.

These are the walls for the sand trap.
