I placed this class of Guernsey cows B A C D. B places over A for her advantage in dairy character and femininity. She is longer and leaner in the neck, sharper over the topline, and more incurving in the thigh. B also has a wider rear udder attachment. She also has an advantage in rear legs, being placed more squarely beneath her and cleaner in the hock. B is also more desirable in the rump, criticizing A for being higher in the pins. I do grant A for having a more youthful udder and a more desirable teat size.
A places over C for her advantage in mammary system and overall style. A has more balance to her rear udder, more desirable teat placement, and a higher rear udder attachment. A also has stronger pasterns and is deeper in the heel. She is also wider throughout, showing greater strength and exhibiting more substance of bone. I will admit C is longer and leaner in the neck, sharper over the topline, and has a more desirable slope from hooks to pins.
Moving on to my bottom placing, it is C's dairyness and udder that easily places her over D. C has a stronger suspensory ligament, a more youthful udder, and is showing more angularity and femininity. C has a longer and leaner neck and is sharper over the shoulders. I do grant D an advantage in power and strength, being deeper in the rib and exhibiting more balance to her rear udder, but she lacks the advantages in mammary system and dairyness to place any higher in the class.
