Keep New Calves Close By

water tank as a calf crib

We only have one calving pen on our farm, so sometimes we have to calve a cow in her stall. We purchased a small 40-gallon water tank that works perfectly for putting the calf in and carrying it around to the front of the cow. The tank keeps the calf so much cleaner and makes moving a slippery calf a lot easier and more stable than a wheelbarrow. The tank also keeps the calf from flopping around and getting out of reach of the cow so she can clean it.
