That's correct.

By placing 225 million pounds of cheese on pizzas and an array of food items, Pizza Hut employs 100,000 dairy cows or 1 percent of the U.S. dairy herd. That 225 million pounds of cheese goes through 6,300 franchise locations that crisscross the United States.

How does the math work on that calculation?

It takes 10 pounds of milk to make 1 pound of cheese. If the average U.S. cow produces 60 pounds of milk, it takes 100,000 cows to produce 2.225 billion pounds of milk

Knowing that cheese sales are vital to U.S. dairy farmers, Dairy Management Inc., known to many simply as DMI, entered into a creative partnership a few years ago. That in turn has led to new menu creations that use even more cheese.

Among the most recent innovation is the Stuffed Garlic Knot Pizza. That creation was launched just in time for the largest pizza-eating day of the year - the Super Bowl.
