Holsteins average over $31,000.

The 2016 World Classic sale featured some of the most sought-after genetics in the Holstein breed. Although the Holstein show ran late, and the sale began later than anticipated, the excitement in crowd was palpable. Tom Morris Ltd. managed the sale that had buyers from 13 states, two Canadian provinces, and 3 countries. The 44 lots averaged $31,002.

The high seller was OCD Supersire 9882-ET at $270,000. She is a VG Supersire with a GTPI of +2701 and is backed by 10 generation of Very Good and Excellent dams. As lot 10, she was a proven donor dam and sold in absentia to Triple Crown Genetics, Idaho; Genosource, Iowa; and Jerry Jorgensen, Michigan. The consignor was Matt Steiner of Pine-Tree Dairy in Ohio.

A Bacon-Hill Pety Modesty, born last June, was the second high seller at $74,000. Kings-Ransom Farm of New York was the consignor and Select Sires purchased the heifer with a+2794 GTPI.

From North Florida Holsteins, a Bacon-Hill Montross daughter with a GTPI +2715 was the third high seller at $62,000. Triple Crown Genetics added this one-year-old heifer to their breeding program in Idaho.
