More than 60 professional Select Reproductive Solutions® (SRS®) specialists from Select Sires’ member organizations, World Wide Sires, Ltd., and Select Sires GenerVations, as well as Select Sires staff and guests gathered for the annual SRS Conference held June 6 to 8 in Pasco, Wash. to share ideas and learn about the latest in reproductive technology. Hosted by All West/Select Sires, the three-day conference incorporated both classroom and on-farm training.
“This was our largest SRS conference to-date, with more than three times the participation of the first one 13 years ago,” stated Dr. Ray Nebel, vice president of technical service programs. “We had the opportunity to collaborate, brainstorm, learn new skills and hear about the latest CowManager® developments. We also heard from experts on herd inventory software program, My Dairy Dashboard, BoviSync® software management program and received an in-house research and production update. Brian Houin of Homestead Dairy in Plymouth, Ind., gave an interesting producers’ look into the future with their development of a new robotic facility.”
Outside of the classroom, SRS specialists participated in the annual RePRO Analysis™ challenge. Attendees were split into teams and worked together to evaluate George DeRuyter and Sons Dairy. They presented their findings to all conference attendees and the owners of the dairy. Similar to Dairy Challenge, this real-world experience allows SRS specialists to collaborate with their peers from around the country.
