College students and young dairy farmers are encouraged to apply for a scholarship to attend the 2018 Pennsylvania Dairy Summit, the premier dairy educational event in Pennsylvania offering education, networking and inspiration for those working in the dairy industry. A limited number of scholarships, which are designated to offset hotel and summit registration costs, are awarded by the Pennsylvania Dairymen's Association, the Center for Dairy Excellence and Center for Dairy Excellence Foundation of Pennsylvania.

The conference will be held on February 21 – 22 at the Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center in State College with a pre-conference “Young Dairy Professionals’ Reception” scheduled for the evening of February 20. The summit offers a wide array of breakout sessions, mini “Side Serving” discussions, and presentations that complement general sessions designed to bring dairy producers and industry leaders together to gain new insight, learn new production techniques and network with others in the dairy industry.

“The Pennsylvania Dairy Summit is a great avenue for students, young farmers and those just beginning their professional career within dairy to network with industry professionals and learn from other dairy farmers throughout Pennsylvania,” said Mary Foote, dairy education programs manager at the Center.

Applicants must be 17-25 years of age as of February 1, 2018, currently own or be employed full-time on a dairy farm, or be enrolled in an agricultural degree program at a college or trade school. Applicants must reside in Pennsylvania or be enrolled in a Pennsylvania-based university.

Visit the “Students & Educators” tab at centerfordairyexcellence.org then select “Young Dairy Professionals Scholarship” from the left side menu to access the applications. The applications are to be postmarked by January 15, 2018.
