The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation raised nearly $1,000,000 in 2017 to support Wisconsin 4-H.

The Wisconsin 4‑H Foundation exists to provide essential support for the 4‑H Youth Development program – a program of the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension. Last year, individuals, corporations and foundations provided support for a network of Cooperative Extension staff and more than 20,000 adult and youth volunteers in shaping nearly 150,000 youth who take part in 4‑H programs throughout the state.

“This is a great milestone that represents the emphasis our partners place on positive youth development,” says Brenda Scheider, Executive Director for the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation. “The 4-H program is an incredible way to invest the future of Wisconsin.”

4-H Foundation supporters provide resources to create cutting-edge, relevant programs for young people to learn real-world skills that will prepare them for the challenges of today and tomorrow, moving communities, the state, our county and the world forward in ways no other youth organization can.

“I am proud and excited about the role the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation plays in supporting our youth,” says Linda Funk, President of the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation Board of Directors. “Our plans for 2018 should keep us on track to continue to provide significant resources to support the 4-H program.”

Since 1914, Wisconsin 4-H has helped young people develop the skills they need to meet the demands of our complex and ever-changing world. 4-H has grown from a rich history of agricultural clubs that helped the University of Wisconsin-Extension connect families to research-based advancements in farming technology and techniques. Today’s 4-H still boasts strong programs in agriculture and animal science, and has grown to include science, arts, leadership, healthy living and communications programming that help Wisconsin youth build a healthier and more prosperous future.

The Wisconsin 4-H Foundation is dedicated to providing essential funding for 4-H programs that teach young people the skills necessary to become responsible, productive citizens. Hands-on 4-H activities emphasize communication skills, self-confidence, sound decision-making practices, and community concern, all of which prepare today’s youth to be our leaders tomorrow.
