Dr. Carolina Mateus will focus on improving production and optimizing efficiency

DeLaval Dr. Carolina Mateus, Manager of R&D and Microbiology of DeLaval Cleaning Solutions, will present "One Step Cleaners: Improving Production and Optimizing Cleaning Efficiency" today at the Food Safety Consortium. Taking place at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, IL November 17 – 20, The Food Safety Consortium is a collection of Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) conferences and workshops for food processors and manufacturers. Dr. Mateus will focus on cleaning methodology and how the formulation of Zone™, also known as One Step Acid in the food processing industry, improves clean in place (CIP) procedures. Case studies from the dairy industry will be used to demonstrate time, energy, labor and resource savings.

Carolina Mateus, Ph.D. is a microbiologist with more than 10 years experience in food safety, particularly in the area of cleaning and sanitation. She provides integrated solutions for food producers as well as sampling programs and chemical training. The technology she will present is a one-step detergent and acidifier for pipelines and bulk tanks that saves time, water, energy and costs by eliminating one step in the cleaning routine, reducing a four-step process to three. It also has the added benefit of reducing detergent handling to minimize the risk of human error.

"Dr. Mateus's presentation is an excellent way for us to showcase our full solution approach," said Fernando Cuccioli, President of DeLaval Inc., "We provide integrated solutions that are designed to help producers become more efficient. This is an excellent example of how our passion for delivering customer value encompasses not only milking parlors and equipment, but also consumables and farm supplies."
