Diamond V Sam MosleySam Mosley, Ph.D., has joined Diamond V as Dairy Field Technical Specialist. He has come to Diamond V from Davis Family Dairies in Nicollet, MN where he was the Operations Manager of multiple dairy sites and a young stock facility. Prior to moving to Minnesota, Dr. Mosley was the Transition Cow Manager for Double A Dairy in Jerome, ID.

"As the manager of large dairy operations," notes Dairy Technical Service Specialist Dave Ohman, D.V.M., "Sam has developed a broad skill set that will be very valuable to us at Diamond V and our customers. His primary interests focus on transition cow management and facilities, feed management and feeder training, employee development, and young stock."

Also, Dave says, Sam has extensive experience in developing protocols and implementing them in both English and Spanish.

"Sam strives to help develop successful dairies by maximizing animal health and productivity. He will play a key role in helping us with our technical on-farm value- added support and sales."

Sam received his doctorate in Animal Physiology in 2006 from the University of Idaho where he investigated the impact of dietary fatty acids on milk fat synthesis.

Sam and his wife, Erin, spend most of their free time playing with their children, Louisa (7), Eleanor (5), and Walt (3). They currently reside in Minnesota.

TMR Audit® in research journal and on YouTube

Veterinary Clinics of North America: Food Animal Practice, a peer-review research journal, recently published the work of Tom Oelberg, Ph.D. and Bill Stone, D.V.M., Ph.D. titled "Monitoring Total Mixed Rations and Feed Delivery Systems" (http://authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S0749072014000620).

Bill is Diamond V's Technical Service Director East, and Tom is a Diamond V Dairy Field Technical Specialist serving the Upper Midwest. It was Tom who pioneered the TMR Audit® in 2008. The rigorous on-farm evaluation by Diamond V Dairy Advisors proved successful in helping producers optimize cow wellness and performance.

By 2011, Diamond V had completed 450 TMR Audits on about as many U.S. dairy farms. Late last year, the count passed 1,000 and now has gone well over 2,000 with additional TMR Audits conducted outside the U.S.

At the World Dairy Expo in Madison, WI earlier this month, Regional Sales Manager Kristy Pagel introduced Tom to dairy industry editors who interviewed him about the news "Approaching 3,000 TMR Audits."

At the same time, Holstein World interviewed David Greene (Dairy Field Technical Specialist) and Georgia dairy producer Joe Coble for the online "Mootube." See David's interview (www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrpP17A-ENQ) and Joe's interview (www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjNiSchvkfI0).
