Dairy producers, veterinarians, business leaders and educators interested in enhancing their knowledge of dairy nutrition and reproduction are invited to enroll in an online dairy class at the University of Illinois. Advanced Dairy Nutrition (ANSC 423) will begin August 29. This course, coordinated by Mike Hutjens and a team of three fellow instructors, covers nutrient classes, phase feeding, dry cow feeding and health, and forages. Advanced Dairy Reproduction (ANSC 437) will begin on August 29 with Dick Wallace coordinating the class along with two other instructors. All phases of reproductive physiology, management, nutrition and health will be covered. "These online courses allow participants to learn at home. Classes can be taken for college credit, continuing education credit, or audit with variable enrollment fees," Hutjens added. Lectures will be recorded on CD (class on demand) with an Internet live class held during the 10 weeks of class on Monday nights from 6 to 8 p.m. CST (nutrition) and 8 to 9 p.m. (reproduction). Enrollees can participate for credit (U of I tuition rate), CE credit rate, or non-credit rate with reduced tuition.
