Vermeer 504N balerA high-performance round baler, purposefully designed for producers who want capacity, speed and reliability in smaller 5' x 4' round bales, is now available from Vermeer. The new Vermeer® 504N, modeled after the Vermeer Super M Series, produces 47" wide x 60" diameter (1.2 m x 1.5 m) packages that weigh up to 1200 lbs (544 kg), depending on moisture content.

"We wanted to design a new baler that served the needs of our high-production 5' x 4' customers," says Phil Chrisman, Baler Product Manager. "The design team spent a lot of time listening to the needs of customers and incorporated many of the design features from the larger Vermeer Super M Series balers, such as speed, operating efficiency, functionality and reliability."

According to Chrisman, the new N Series design starts with a large-capacity, five-bar pickup to handle heavy, high-volume windrows. A unique positive roll starting system, combined with the Vermeer bottom drum design, provides reliable starts, aggressive intake at high feed rates and uniform distribution of the core across the entire chamber.

Heavy-duty rollers and bearings from the M Classic Series 5' x 4' model, provide the kind of durability operators expect when operating a high-capacity baler season after season. Drop ‘n Go bale ejection eliminates the hassles and the extra time it takes to disengage and reengage the PTO before starting a new bale.

The new netwrap system lets operators produce great-looking wrapped because it feeds the net directly to the main belts of the baler. The Vermeer Bale Expert™ monitor, standard on the 504N, makes it easy to operate. The 504N also features Haysaver wheels, spring-cushioned pickup, optional hydraulic pickup lift, optional 2-year extended warranty and spring-loaded bale ramp.

Also, since many operators in the 5' x 4' class require a baler with the versatility to bale both wet and dry hay, the 504N has an optional silage baling kit that enables producers to harvest hay at 50 to 65 percent moisture levels, resulting in high-nutrition, high-energy silage bales that are more palatable and more digestible. It also gives operators the opportunity to maintain their haying schedule, even when timing and unpredictable weather patterns conflict.
