Dry erase hutch map

calf map on dry rerase board

One of my jobs is to feed baby calves. I found this dry erase board handy to map calves in hutches. This system works very well when others need to feed calves if I am not available. At a glance, anyone can tell which hutch a calf is in and what it is fed.

We have 20 hutches, so each rectangle represents a hutch. I record the ear tag number, birthdate, and feeding requirement [bottle (M-B), milking pail (M), milk replacer (MR), or water (W)]. It's easy to add, change, or erase the calf information when a calf is moved in or out of a hutch. I can also add other information, like if a calf is sick.
