AltaBAXTER adds another accomplishment to his long list of credentials. On Thursday April 12th, just a few days after his tenth birthday, the millionth unit of AltaBAXTER semen was transferred from the previous day's collection. AltaBAXTER is no stranger to the dairy breeding world thanks to his ability to sire high producing, great scoring, and genetic chart-topping offspring. This week, the influential bull adds another accomplishment to his long list of credentials. On Thursday April 12th, just a few days after his tenth birthday, the millionth unit of AltaBAXTER semen was transferred from the previous day's collection.
This feat would not have been attainable without Alta's tremendous barn and lab staff. The Conrich team is led by Terry Flaman, Alta's Canadian Production Manager. AltaBAXTER produced his young sire units in Watertown, Wisconsin, before he was 14 months of age. After being moved to Conrich in early 2006, he was put back in production. He has been under the outstanding care of the Conrich team ever since. "AltaBAXTER is a very laid-back, easy bull to handle. He is a joy to work with and is a favorite among all Conrich staff. To date, AltaBAXTER has had no major health issues. The perpetual demand for his genetics will allow AltaBAXTER to continue to make semen for as long as his health permits. We look forward to continuing to work with this remarkable bull in the future," exclaims Terry proudly. AltaBAXTER was sampled through Alta's Advantage® program and received his first US proof in November 2006. From February 2007 to August 2009, he ranked in the top 25 for TPI. Once proven in Canada, AltaBAXTER also spent a great deal of time in the top 25 on the LPI list. Now, with over 30,000 daughters in his production proof and over 20,000 daughters in his type proof, AltaBAXTER maintains a breed leading TPI of 1913 with 1742 lbs Milk, 96 lbs CFP, +4.1 PL and +1.99 PTAT. AltaBAXTER semen has been sold in over 50 countries around the world with the greatest number of units sold in the US, followed closely by the UK. "AltaBAXTER is a very unique individual. He's a real standout and shows that in everything he does. His daughters display the same pride - they're very stylish, hardworking, beautiful cows that fulfill the dairymen's desire, and will continue to do so well beyond his millionth dose," states Paul Hunt, Alta's Chief Operating Officer. There are over 250 sons of AltaBAXTER in AI in North America alone, many of which rank extremely high on their genomic values, and the first of which are expected to get their first daughter proofs later this year. Alta customers have benefitted from AltaBAXTER himself, but also from 34 of his sons at Alta, 12 of which have already been marketed as FutureStars of G-Stars. These up and comers are sure to continue AltaBAXTER's legacy. As we celebrate one million doses, we extend a big "thank you" to our clients and partners. This monumental level of production was not only made possible internally at Alta, but also through the support and hard work of our partners, be-they clients or distributors, around the world. 4.18.2012
