Professional Dairy Producers Foundation (PDPF) is seeking applications for educational grant dollars that help build dairy producer professionalism and public trust in how dairy products are produced. Grant applications are due December 1, 2013."We support educational programs that grow our industry's people and youth and build trust with our consumers," says Logan Bower, dairy producer from Blain, PA and Chair of the Foundation Board. "Education throughout the production chain is the key to keeping our rural dairy communities strong."
Organizations may apply for grants of up to $5,000. The maximum amount given to any one organization will be $5,000. For grant criteria and an application package, visit www.dairyfoundation.org.
Examples of projects that have previously been funded include:
· Dairy Leaders program, run by the Western United Dairymen;
· The Dairyland Initiative animal welfare education;
· Dairy Challenge Academy offered by the North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge, Inc.;
· the New York State Junior DAIRY LEADER Program through The New York State 4-H Foundation, Inc.;
· Youth Leadership Derby, Dairy Mentor Program and the Agriculture-Community Engagement Twilight Meetings, all projects of the Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin (PDPW).
The Professional Dairy Producers Foundation was established by Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin in 2002 as a way to raise funds and awards grants for educational programs.
