AnimartANIMART, Inc. is hosting their first continuing education (CE) course for certified veterinary technicians. The first course will highlight calf care and be offered Friday, June 6, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ANIMART received certification earlier this year to hold CE classes that are both American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) and Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE) approved.

The program instructor is ANIMART's Professional Services Veterinarian, Dr. Vicky Lauer. Lauer has been a member of the ANIMART Professional Services Veterinarian team since September 2013 to analyze and improve calf health as well as work with producers to improve herd health.

Animart Dr. Vicky "I am excited to help local CVTs gain basic information about choosing the best quality colostrum replacer and commercial calf electrolytes as well as provide general information about basic causes and treatment options for calf diarrhea and pneumonia," said Dr. Vicky. "I will also provide training on stomach-tubing calves and placing indwelling intravenous catheters for fluid administration."

Dr. Lauer graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Missouri Baptist University and received her DVM from the University of Missouri – Columbia.

"We are excited to start providing CE credits to CVTs," said Dan Ellsworth, President of ANIMART. "Partnering with CVTs and veterinary clinics will help us collaborate with other animal health professionals to bring producers solutions with innovative products and procedures."

The ANIMART Calf Care Continuing Education course will cover four key points: Calf Pneumonia, Calf Scours, Colostrum Replacers and Practical Calf Procedures.Four continuing education credits will be awarded to Certified Veterinary Technicians who attend the course in its entirety.
