New York Jersey Singing in Harmony' After Supreme Champion Win
Milking Shorthorn from New York Takes Junior Supreme, Maryland Jersey is Best Bred-and-Owned
DC Harmony Norma, the Jersey six year old and older class winner owned by Jordan and Jason Thomas of Lowville, N.Y., was crowned Supreme Champion of the 2014 All-American Dairy Show on Thursday, Sept. 18, at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.
The seven year old cow rose above nearly 1,900 head of cattle representing seven dairy breeds to earn the supreme title and $3,000 prize sponsored by Cargill of Shippensburg, Cumberland County.
"This is a truly exceptional cow," said Judge Pat Conroy. "If you're looking for a dairy, balanced, and graceful animal, she's it."
Supreme Champion Bred and Owned was the Jersey senior 3 year old Elliots Cosmo Action. Owners Ernest Kueffer and Terri Packard of Boonsboro, Md., won the use of a trailer for a year, sponsored by M. H. Eby Inc. of Blue Ball, Lancaster County.
Supreme Champion Heifer Hard Core Premium Fire Maid EXP, the Milking Shorthorn fall calf winner, is owned by Peter Vail and Frank and Diane Borba, Hillpoint Partners, of Valatie, N.Y. She earned $750, sponsored by XTO Energy of Warrendale, Allegheny County.
