Tony DeGroot, who has been using Feed Beets in his dairy ration since 2000 was awarded the first Betaseed® Feed Beets Pioneer Award on February 18, 2015. The Pioneer Award recognizes Tony for being very instrumental in spreading the word about Feed Beets and informing other growers about the value of using Feed Beets for their dairy herd. Feed Beets are a highly digestible fiber source with slow released sugars which make it a very nutritional feed stock as well as palatable to the cows.
The DeGroot Dairy Farm is located in the Central Valley area of CA and is a 3rd generation family farm. Tony began dairy farming in 1966. Today his operation milks 4500 cows and raises all of its' young stock. The DeGroots use Feed Beets as a rotation crop because the beets also help pull out the alkaline in salty soils.
