The metal support braces on my barn floor scraper rusted and broke before the scraper blade wore out. New replacements did the same thing.
To solve the problem, I cut a square piece of plastic out of a used soap drum that was 1 inch wider than the bolts on either side of the blade and on the handle. I heated it lightly with my propane can torch to straighten it slightly. After it was bolted on, I rounded the corners with my reciprocating saw. It is lightweight and will not rust like metal braces do.
