Heather Lauinger, 17, daughter of Danny and Roxanne Lauinger of Strasburg, was crowned North Dakota's 69th State Dairy Princess Tuesday in Bismarck June 28. Her coronation took place during a luncheon with the North Dakota Division board of Midwest Dairy Association, which sponsors the princess program.
Lauinger will spend her year serving as the official ambassador for the state's dairy farmers advocating and educating on their behalf during public appearances that include media interviews, classroom appearances, dairy events and fairs.
Lauinger graduated from Linton High School in May and currently works both on her farm and as a certified nursing assistant at Linton Hospital. She plans to attend Bismarck State College in the fall, studying social work.
At Linton High School, Lauinger was active in track and FCCLA, serving as district vice president and winning a gold medal in the organization's national competition. She was also statistician for wrestling.
In addition to the crown, Lauinger received a $500 scholarship from the Midwest Dairy Association.
