ABS Global, Inc. has named Erika Fernholz the summer 2011 Global Dairy Product Management and Research Intern. "Erika will make an excellent addition to the ABS Research and Product Management teams this summer. Her experiences in the lab, on the farm, and in the teaching hospital provide her with the tools to succeed in this internship," stated Kylene Anderson, Global Dairy Product Specialist. Fernholz has had a wide range of experiences, from shadowing veterinarians and working as a lab assistant at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to being a member of the barn crew at the UW-Madison large animal teaching hospital. In addition, she has had experience on dairy goat and dairy cattle farms and has played a key role in the milking, routine vaccinations and daily care of the animals. On campus, Fernholz is involved in the U of M women's lacrosse team, as well as the Gopher Dairy Club and Block and Bridle Club. She is in the Animal Science program with a Pre-Vet emphasis and hopes to also obtain a Chemistry minor. As the Global Dairy Product Management and Research Intern, Fernholz will be responsible for assisting with compiling of global dairy training presentations, assisting with August 2011 sire summary tasks, data organization/summarization, laboratory processes and field trial management processes.
