Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association Inc. has proudly sponsored and supported various fairs, breed shows and youth programs over the years. Given the numerous canceled events this summer, we are supporting the youth and members who exhibit their cows at fairs by holding our own Co-op County Fair.
Our Co-op County Fair is a virtual, five-week event that will run from June 29 through July 31, 2020. Each week we will celebrate a theme and highlight entries on our social channels. Maryland & Virginia will share the top weekly entries on our social channels to amplify farmers’ stories and to share with consumers the positive message of how farmers take care of their animals.
Entries may be submitted as a youth group (4-H, FFA, breed organization), an individual or as a family, and entries must come from within the cooperative’s geographic footprint which includes Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
The five weekly themes include:
- Cow Care
- Favorite Cow
- Favorite Breed
- Pretty Cow/Cow Costume
- Favorite Cow Family
Weekly winners will receive $100 for a youth group entry, $50 for an individual entry and $75 for a family entry. Maryland & Virginia has committed to funding the weekly winners. But we know that there are several other like-minded organizations that support youth and fair programming that may also want to help.
We ask that you join us and sponsor or donate to our Co-op County Fair program. Any and all contributions are appreciated, and donors will be recognized on our social media channels and our website.
While we can’t replace the feeling of walking into a show ring or winning a blue ribbon, together we can help keep the county fair spirit alive and well this summer. Won’t you help us do that?
