Cabot Creamery/Agri-Mark had five best in class finishes at the United States Championship Cheese Contest last month. The contest is considered the nation’s premier technical cheese, butter, and yogurt competition and it has been hosted by the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association biennially since 1981.

A team of 40 expert judges, including Ted Brown, an Agri-Mark Cheese Grader, evaluated entries on flavor, body and texture, salt, color, finish, packaging, and other appropriate attributes. Awards were given to the highest scoring entries in each class.

“I was really happy to see the results — especially for our Greek Yogurt,” said Rachael Richards, Cultured Product Manager at Cabot Creamery Cooperative. “The way we make our Greek Yogurt is a labor-intensive and hands-on process. I know how much time and energy our cultured team puts into making it, so I’m very proud of them.”

“Over the years, our cheese has won every major award for taste, which is a testament to our farmers, the high-quality milk they produce and our cheesemakers,” said Matt Mason, Director of Product Strategy. “I was extremely proud to see our butter and Greek yogurt recognized at this level too. A lot of time, research and energy went into the development of these newer products, that have been selling really well. It’s validating to be recognized by not only the consumers, but the judges too.”

“I am thrilled to have two of our dairy powders be awarded Best of Class in their respective categories,” said Virginie Saulnier, VP of Global Dairy Sales at Agri-Mark. “It’s great that these awards recognize the hard work and dedication of all our team members, from our dairy farm families to our production and Quality Assurance teams. Receiving these awards will allow us to maintain the premium quality positioning of our dairy powders and to differentiate our products from those of our competitors in domestic and global markets.”
