Zoetis will shine the spotlight on industry voices and premiere the inaugural episode of the second season of its Born of the Bond Series at World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin, during the Supreme Champion of the Heifer Show Selection on Oct. 3 at 8:15 p.m. CT. The four-episode season features Ideal Dairy Farms, a sixth-generation dairy operation in Hudson Falls, New York.

The Born of the Bond Series is a short documentary, produced by Zoetis, that explores topical issues in the cattle industry and how it takes an entire community— producers, families, communities, veterinarians and animal health companies like Zoetis — to tackle them. This season delves into what innovation can mean for a dairy’s legacy and how this family of dairy farmers strives to preserve its way of life.

“We know the future lies with our passionate producers and their commitment to our industry. Each generation of a farm is born to the traditions and lessons that came before it and born to a way of life that’s worth preserving,” said Clint Mefford, Head of Communications and Marketing Operations, U.S. Livestock at Zoetis. “We’re proud to share Ideal Dairy Farms’ story with the cattle industry and generate conversation about how dairies are working to build something that lasts for the next generation.”

For Ideal Dairy Farms, that has included a variety of innovative solutions and initiatives, from community engagement and sustainable farming practices to implementing technologies like genomic testing with CLARIFIDE® Plus. Today, Ideal Dairy Farms milks 3,800 cows and farms 4,800 acres. The farm is run in partnership with the Dickinson and Getty families, along with 40 full-time employees.

“When Zoetis reached out to our family and asked if we’d be willing to share our story, we were really excited,” said Crystal Grimaldi, sixth generation dairy farmer and head of human resources. “Our family farm has been in operation since 1908. The reason we’re here at all is because of all the decisions that generations of our families made before we even thought about returning home to the dairy. And as dairies change and evolve, you have to be relevant and viable, which means changing and doing things differently. I think that’s an experience every dairy can relate to.”

Tune in to this season’s first episode at World Dairy Expo in the Coliseum or on ExpoTV at 8:15 p.m. CT on Thursday, Oct. 3, or visit BornOfTheBond.com The remaining three episodes will premiere in late 2024 and early 2025.
