National Ice Cream Mix Association
Craig Colonno of Anderson Erickson Dairy, Des Moines, Iowa was elected President of the National Ice Cream Mix Association (NICMA) at the organization's recent Annual Meeting & Convention in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Colonno succeeds Brian DeFelice of Dairy Enterprises, Inc. who completed a two-year term of office.

In addition, Joe Duscher of Upstate Niagara Cooperative, Buffalo, NY was elected to serve as Vice President and Pat Galloway of Classic Mix Partners, LLC, Neenah, WI was elected to serve as Treasurer. NICMA also elected Ed Coryn of Dairy-Mix, Inc., St. Petersburg, FL; Paul Dean, Scholle Packaging, Inc., Northlake, IL; and Steve Steinwart, Meadowvale, Inc., Yorkville, IL to serve as representatives on the Board of Directors for a new three-year term.

Featured speakers for the two and a half-day event included Dr. Bob Roberts, Associate Professor of Food Science at The Pennsylvania State University; Gale Prince, President, SAGE Food Safety Consultants; Dr. Dave McCoy, Vice President of Product Research at Dairy Management, Inc.; Ron Mong, Senior Manager of Dairy Consulting for Herbein + Company, Inc. and Rick Brownell, Vice President of Vanilla Products at Virginia Dare. NICMA staff provided an update on the political climate in the nation's capital and how it relates to dairy policy, as well as reports on the economic outlook for major input costs for the mix industry and federal and state regulatory issues.

The National Ice Cream Mix Association will hold its 2013 Annual Meeting & Convention in Fort Lauderdale on January 20-23.
