New Junior Show Extra Late Entry Deadline Announced



NAILEThe North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) Dairy Cattle Division is scheduled for November 8-12 at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Seven breeds conduct national shows. In addition, Junior Heifer shows for each breed are also scheduled, as well as the Jersey Jug Futurity and the Guernsey Gold Futurity. Shows are video streamed live from Freedom Hall on the NAILE website.

In 2011, an October 25 Extra Late open dairy entry deadline was initiated. The NAILE Executive Committee has extended this option to Junior Show cattle. The Extra Late entry fee is $100 and special rules apply. Regular entry deadline is September 20. Late entry deadline is October 10, and the fee is double the regular entry rate.

Other dairy industry activities at the big expo include the Dairy Judging Contests for Youth, Junior College and Senior College divisions, 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl and two Jersey sales.

Supreme Champions
Grand Champion Cows from all seven breeds vie for the Supreme Champion Cow award on Tuesday, November 12. The winner earns overall show honors and a $2,500 premium, an award sponsored by Kentucky Farm Bureau.

Junior Show champions compete for the Junior Show Supreme Champion Cow ($2,000 award) or the Junior Show Supreme Champion Heifer ($500 award) placing. The Junior Show supreme awards are sponsored by the Kentucky Dairy Development Council.

Premium catalogs and entry forms are automatically mailed to those who have entered in the past two years. Exhibitors may submit entries by mail at any time and on the website beginning September 1.

The 40th Annual NAILE is produced by the Commonwealth of Kentucky at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky under the direction of the Kentucky State Fair Board. During the Expo's two-week run November 9 through 22, the facility's entire 1,200,000 square feet of climate-controlled exhibit space is used. More than 200,000 visitors and exhibitors attend the event annually.
