Holstein Canada logo?Holstein Canada is pleased to welcome three new National Directors to the Board of Directors: Angus MacKinnon of Coaticook, QC will serve as Director for Québec at Large, Nancy Beerwort of Martintown, ON is the newly elected National Director for Eastern Ontario and Ben Cuthbert of Ladysmith, BC will serve as National Director for British Columbia. All three positions were vacant as a result of retiring National Directors in their electoral districts, and all three were elected by acclamation. Angus, Nancy and Ben will begin their mandate following the Holstein Canada Annual General Meeting to be held in Fredericton, NB on April 11, 2015.

MacKinnon pixtAngus MacKinnon milks 150 cows under the Buckland prefix and operates the 1,200 acre operation with his brother Peter. Angus is Past President of the Sherbrooke Holstein Club; Chair of the 2010 Quebec Picnic; and Co-Chair of the 2014 National Holstein Convention in Sherbrooke, QC. Angus believes Holstein Canada's first responsibility is to its members – providing the tools and promoting efficient dairy management practices and the advantages of the Holstein cow. He feels industry collaboration is essential to the advancement of clear and useable information delivered directly to our members. Angus and his wife, Jennifer Mungham, have four daughters.

Beerwort pixtNancy Beerwort milks 80 cows under the Cherry Crest prefix and operates a 520 acre operation in Glengarry County of which 405 acres are owned and 115 rented. She is a Past President, secretary and director of the Glengarry Holstein Club; past 4-H Leader; and Past Glengarry Holstein Club Representative on the Eastern Ontario Council of the Ontario Holstein Branch. Nancy believes Holstein Canada needs to continue to be relevant and responsive to all Canadian dairy producers. Nancy farms in partnership with her husband Donald Johnston, and they have two children. Kevin farms with Nancy and Donald, and Merina works for the Bank of Nova Scotia in Kingston.

Cuthbert pixtBen Cuthbert milks 120 cows under the Silvermaple prefix and operates a 335 acre operation on Vancouver Island. Ben was Vice Chairman of the B.C. Milk Marketing Board from 1996 to 2014, and also served as a member of the Local district Area Planning Committee from 2006 to 2011. Ben feels Holstein Canada must maintain and enhance the relevance of the breed and Holstein Canada to all producers. Ben farms in partnership with his wife, Suzanne, and their son, Thomas, who also runs the farm's broiler operation. Ben and Suzanne also have two daughters; Erin has a degree in Animal Science and works for the University of Saskatchewan; and Natalie is currently studying at the Vancouver School of Dental Hygiene.
