Growing Financial Skills is the Focus of PDPW's Dairy Financial Workshop February 10

PDPWProfessional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin (PDPW) is offering a Dairy Financial Workshop on Tuesday, February 10 to help dairy producers sharpen the financial skills that can help them grow or improve their businesses.

No matter what size or type of dairy, this workshop will help attendees create the system of written documents that form the basis for good decision making. The workshop will help dairy producers:

  • Know which numbers are important and which are less important
  • Know how to interpret financial statements
  • Understand their farm's incomes and expenses
  • Know how their income statement impacts their balance sheet
  • Know how to use the right numbers to make decisions

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. and concluding at 4 p.m. on February 10, 2015, the workshop will include interactive and team-based sessions, including one that puts producers in the lender's chair, observing the farm's financial performance through the eyes of a lender.

Leading the training session will be two experienced financial professionals: Steve Schwoerer is a dairy specialist with Badgerland Financial and the account officer for the company's large dairy portfolio, covering eight counties surrounding Fond du Lac, Wis. Gary Sipiorski spent 17 years with the Citizens State Bank of Loyal as an agricultural loan officer, before becoming its president and CEO. Today he is part of the Vita Plus Corporation team, a 350-plus employee-owned nutrition firm based in Madison, Wis. He chaired the Governor's Task Force on Growing Agriculture in Wisconsin and served on the advisory committee on Agriculture and Industry for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

This program is an accredited training program with the University of Wisconsin-School of Veterinary Medicine (UW-SVM) and veterinarians may receive up to 6.3 CEUs for attending.

The PDPW Business Financial Skills Workshop will be held at Glacier Canyon Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. More details and registration are available by calling 800-947-7379 or visiting www.pdpw.org.
